PumaIn 1924 Rudolf Dassler and his brother Adolph began a shoe company together. Things worked out for awhile, and then after almost 25 years the brothers split up. In 1948 Rudolf Dassler officially begins "PUMA". It wasn't until 1958 that the PUMA trademark was established. PUMA was the first athletic shoe company to use vulcanization in the construction process. Vulcanization improved the way the shoe was attached to the sole. PUMA continued to grow because of the auspicious connections it had made with winning athletes and teams. PUMA went public in 1986.
